Using a butter knife as your primary removal tool:
- Take note of the gasket orientation in the bottle, get a photo if necessary as reference for Step 3 (Reinserting)
- Insert the blunt side of the butter knife at a shallow angle, almost parallel to the surface
- Work the back of the blade carefully under the gasket edge and around the perimeter of the gasket without digging into the silicone until the gasket is released from the gasket channel
- If resistance is encountered, stop and try a different angle or location rather than applying more force.
- Avoid trying to pull the entire gasket out at once as this creates uneven stress distribution across the material
This removal technique reduces the chance of localized stress that could tear the gasket.
